not dead yet!
I went past this on the way home.

Culture jamming feels a little old-ish to me somehow (isn't that weird? I guess when advertising brands started trying to make their own stuff look culture-jammed on purpose it all got a little sad), but I still like that people are doing it occasionally.

In other news, apparently last week was cursed, because every single shoot we had was rained out. We got rained out in places that supposedly hadn't seen rain for years. We had journalists and photographers who were rained out and flooded out in a desert. Our photo editor (who organises the shoots) nearly had a nervous breakdown. I only escaped because my shoot was indoors, and I was still terrified a pipe would burst and flood the whole building.

Apart from that... um... maybe I need to post more. I'm sure I had more to say, but right now I really need to play Fallout 3.

ps: does anyone else remember 'Dakota' by The Stereophonics? I can't believe this song isn't from the 80s somehow. It's [info]tachikoma's favourite karaoke song. [/apropos of nothing]

What say you of Fallout 3? I like the look of it, but would love to hear some feedback about it if you have the time.

I haven't played a lot, but it's been heaps of fun so far. I have to say most of my impressions have come from my housemate and boyfriend, neither of whom have been able to pry themselves from it for weeks. When tachikoma's xbox red-ringed, he actually bought it for PC so he could still play it whilst waiting for his xbox repair... make of that what you will.

Depends what kind of games you like - it's quite exploratory from what I can tell, but there's a pretty reasonable amount of combat too. Fortunately for me you don't have to be excellent at FPS games on consoles - the combat system seems to work pretty well in a kind of semi-ish-tactical manner. It's also pretty damn funny (and creepy too).

Does that help, hah? Probably pretty vague... any specific questions? :)

Vague positive response = good in my books! Do have one specific question though. Are the controls pretty intuitive or do they take a while to learn?

I found it totally intuitive, but I've played a few xbox games. It's the usual left stick steers, right stick looks kind of thing, with shoulder buttons controlling the targeting system and your viewpoint (you can go first or third person), and the rest of the buttons doing the inventory, jump, weapon in/out kind of thing. It's not too tricky.

Only now I've just found out there's some downloadable content coming... this may never end!

Wait ... you mean that ad was made that way on purpose? I honestly thought somebody had gone and defaced an actual ad. *lol* I kinda like it though. It definitely got my attention.

Hah, no, you were right the first time! It was defaced, the original ad was just the vaguely irritating "unworry" kind of thing. It got my attention too. :)

I was just thinking of "graffitti chic" ads, and the way everyone was trying to do edgy, 'counter-culture' ads for a while, and there were a few ads that looked like they'd been torn into or painted over or something. Actually, they keep doing that... *sigh* Large corporations being "hip" is nearly always vaguely embarrassing.
