Face
[info]tachikoma and I went to see Iron Man last night, which was excellent and quite a lot of fun in my opinion. But on the way back, we had coffee, and this is what happened when Tachi ate his muffin. This is completely as is, I just looked down and pointed, then whipped out the camera - there has been no muffin-gardening, I assure you.

I think it's crying. Although I know we probably could have ebayed it, he was hungry.

We're at the end of another deadline cycle, and a really busy one. Strangely, rather than feeling elated, I'm just really tired, and I feel slightly empty. Maybe the elation will hit on the way home when I realise I get to come in on Monday and not be on deadline... although we do have to sign off the proofs, a long and also tiring process. Maybe after that?

Randomly, I'm going to a sleepover on Saturday, which is a welcome return to teenage fun past-times that I think should be encouraged for nostalgia's sake. But I have to buy new pyjamas to turn up in, as generally I wear a pair of stripey stockings and an old Bauhaus t-shirt to bed, and I don't really feel it's appropriate attire for any occasion at all where someone might actually, you know, see me...

Dear Sir,

I found your comment on my journal to be quite hilarious, and I would like to enquire as to whether I may to subscribe to your newsletter?

... you're right, it does look like it's crying.

I'd go to a sleepover with you! ... if you weren't all the way across the pond.

Mmmm... Muffin man.

Tautology! As if they make new Bauhaus t-shirts. Still, sounds like a winning ensemble to me. Note to self - organise a sleepover.

Hahaha, you know, you're right. Although I have this sneaking suspicion there has to be someone, somewhere trying to cash in on goth nostalgia with new Bauhaus t-shirts - maybe Utopia...?

And YES ORGANISE ONE! I'll even wear the t-shirt, haha. Dave and I can bring the Venture Bros, ehehehe.

It's crying out "Don't eat me....!"

Either that or he's the Muffin man's teaser trailer for the next Shrek movie.

Hi Arabel,
Thought I'd drop by after reading the lovely comment you left on my blog. The muffin pic made me laugh a lot, though that's prob a bit cruel, as the poor cake is obviously suffering some terrible existential meltdown. Which bit did Tachi eat next? I'm guessing the left eye.
Love your a/work, too. I have to admit the dolls creep me out a bit, though, but that's just me - dolls/mannequins - I get a bit twitchy. Prob cos I watched Dead of Night and Poltergeist when I was too little. Maybe I need to go on a program. See pics of dolls, talk about them, maybe handle a little one &c.
We were on a psych job recently where the woman had a 3/4 sized child doll, in a red mac with its face to the wall as if it were crying. Eech.
See you later

Hi, wow, I'm really happy you came to comment here - thanks so much for the comment on my artwork! I have to admit, I had a bit of a panicked reaction - when a writer you admires visits your blog, the first thing you think is, "Oh NO, what entirely idiotic things have I written lately?!" I've decided I tend to type 'hehehe' far too often, but I think apart from that and a little capslock, I might be safe. I hope.

And don't worry, the dolls tend to worry quite a few people - especially when they're painted, they're eerily lifelike. It's even more unnerving as they're ball-jointed and strung with elastic, which means they occasionally, due to the tension in the elastic, seem to move on their own. I have people who've sworn they could never stay a night in the same room. Although I really, really, really hate those realistic crying child dolls like the one you saw on your psych case too. I once saw a photo of a row of them lined up for sale by the artist who made them, all crying into the wall together - it was terrifying.

As for the muffin, I have a sneaking suspicion Tachi bit the whole bottom of his face off - or at least tried. Maybe he was attempting to put him out of his misery?

Thanks again for stopping by, cheers. Actually, would you like me to draw you something? I'm trying to encourage myself to draw more, and people expecting things is an absolutely excellent motivator. Feel free to suggest something, or I could even try to illustrate a post for you? I wouldn't expect you to post it anywhere if you'd prefer not, of course, it'd just be for the hell of it.

Anyway, have a good day and all,
arabel.
