I don't think you ever have to actually bring those down, though, if you don't want to. As I recall, they do drop some pretty great swag.

Yeah, they drop an amazing relic that reduces the cost of all spell to 1 MP. Everything, even summons and whatnot. I got two, so the screaming and wanting to throw my DS out the window was probably worth it after all. :D
